David Sterling (then DETI Permanent Secretary) who chaired the NI Executive's Co-ordinating Group for the G8 and David Gilmour of the Strategic Investment Board, who worked along-side David in a project management role, spoke about managing the complex organisation and delivery of this once-in-a-generation project as the world looked on.

David Sterling has been responsible for a wide range of projects including the development of Titanic Belfast; the hosting of the 2012 Irish Open Golf Championship and the 2014 Grande Partenza of the Giro d’Italia. David Gilmour is currently providing programme and project management support to the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister in the delivery of projects that will receive funding under the Social Investment Fund.
